We continued studying the Earth's geosphere, diving into the various layers.
1. Check your notebooks to make sure you completed your Lesson 3 Topic 4 vocabulary. 2. Some of you have not finished your Topic 3 Lesson 2 SAVVAS that was due last Wednesday, February 23. Make sure you submitted the assignment on line and completed #7. Read the directions! 3. SAVVAS Topic 3, Lesson 4 is due this Wednesday, March 2 at the beginning of class. Today's class was full of activity!
We watched a very cool video about drilling a hole through the Earth! youtu.be/pVeZYgUHU7g?t=30 We discussed following directions, AGAIN! 1. SAVVAS was due today at the beginning of class!!! The due date was extended due to Monday's holiday giving students an entire week to finish what they did not finish in class last week. Remember, every day late is 2% points off! 2. Vocabulary for Topic 3 Lesson 4 is due Monday, February 28. Students worked on this assignment in class. So, are we following directions? 1. Vocabulary was to be completed BEFORE you started SAVVAS in class! 2. You are to check Weebly daily to make sure you did not forget something! 3. You are also supposed to read your messages on Schoology! Hmmmmm ........ if you're reading this post, you followed at least two of the three instructions for the day. Make sure you check Schoology for an important announcement about your SAVVAS assignment that is due Monday.
If you do that, then you will have succeeded in two of three! If you completed your vocabulary before you started your SAVVAS assignment, as I instructed you in class, you received a 100% . Today's topic was topography! Englishman John Smith created the first map of Virginia. Pretty good job, Capt. Smith! We discussed surveying and George Washington's plans of Culpeper. Although Washington did not survey the Nation's capital, in 1791, Pres. Washington appointed surveyor Andrew Ellicott to do the job. Ellicott was assisted by Benjamin Banneker, a self-educated, free black man. The Schoology assignment that we started in class Monday was due at the beginning of class today. If you did not complete it by the end of class today, it is late. Mrs. Brokaw gave a presentation in class today about America's #1 Swiss cheese. She uploaded the presentation to Schoology. For extra credit, answer the following questions in your science notebook. Be sure to answer in complete sentences. Neatness, grammar, and punctuation count. Due Wednesday!
